Productboard customer? Ask questions, share product feedback, and share best practices
Hey all! How do you leverage the Jira to Productboard integration with your Product teams? We’re configuring a fresh integration right now and as we map Productboard features and feature fields onto Jira issues we’re bumping into the need to realign the definitions in each space so that we can map smoothly between the two.How do you keep your Eng and Product teams aligned using the Jira integration, or how else do you go about it?
Ability to mark some fields required including custom fields. Having a process in place for how your team works is great but sometimes you need something to enforce some processes. Would be cool to allow customers to set which fields are required when creating features. e.g. i sometimes find features with just title no context or missing drivers etc.I do get that sometimes it is discipline and coaching. e,g, i tell my team just add a note if things are just in your head still instead of creating a feature and we worry about it in triage later. Yet you can’t control human error :) Food for thought ^
I am curious how everyone is managing Now-Next-Later.In our definition Now = current quarter, Next=next quarter or so, Later everything after. If in Q3 we had something in Next (as in Q4), are folks moving things back to Now when Q4 arrives or just leaving it there? Wondering what are the best practices :)
First, I absolutely LOVE the product portal to gain customer insight. This is one of the main reasons I am using Productboard. I would like to know if it is possible to randomize the way in which my features appear within the product portal. Many customers are naturally drawn to the top-left, as that is how we read and innately review web content. In order to reduce unconscious bias, I would like have the ability to have the features introduced within the portal be randomized by visitor. The hope is to gain a more equitable view of all features and not have the top row or top few features on the left be most reviewed/rated.

Hi,We are using objectives as ‘initiatives’ to track bigger themes which we do on a quarterly basis. We would like to make sure that all the features assigned to the upcoming sprints are part of an objective… So i’m trying to create a view of all features assigned to a specific sprint but do not have an objective. Is there a way to do that? I’ve only found ways to filter features according to a specific objective, but I couldn’t find a way of doing ‘objective: none’ kind of filter. Any ideas?
We have just released the new View sharing menu with the option to Lock Views to all customers on Scale and Ent plans. 🚨 What’s new? New and optimised sharing window Much requested view locking mechanism (roadmap, feature board) to protect views from accidental changes and deletion No more 'free-for-all' on views. When the view is locked only the owner of the view can edit or delete the view. The concept of view owner - each newly created view will have an owner assigned by default (this will allow us to do things like request access in the future) Note: Admins retain the right to manage locked views (as long as they are shared) Learn more. Why is this important?Previously, when a view was shared with other makers, makers with access were able to update, hide or delete the view. This led to frustration when other users relying on the view found out that the view was changed or missing. The problem was very prominent in large spaces (Scale, ENT) where it’s very hard to organise and
Hi,Is there any way to get data about notes from Productboard automatically?I know about this manual approach:https://support.productboard.com/hc/en-us/articles/360056354854-Export-your-features-and-notes-into-CSVbut can´t find way to automate this process. We don´t have Zapier, only Integromat. REST API would be best :).Thank you for any tips.
Heey! 👋 I’m excited to share that you can now color code Objectives by themes on your roadmaps 🌈 👉What is new?You can now create custom themes to categorize your objectives. You can choose to show the objective color by theme or by status on the roadmap views.🙌Why is this valuable?Themes can be used to communicate which objective supports the same goals, relate to the same product, or some other organizing principle to align the organization and get executive buy-in on your plan. 📚DocumentationHow to color code your objectives by theme
🚀 We released customer-facing column roadmaps to Labs. This allows you to share column roadmaps with anyone who has a link and embed them. 🚨 What’s new?You can now share column roadmaps with anyone who has a link. You can embed the roadmap wherever their audience is. You can choose whether the viewer will see feature cards or portal cards. 💪Why is it important? Some makers currently struggle to align and collaborate with people who don’t have Productboard accounts. Now you can share a roadmap with anyone who has a link. You can now embed column roadmaps in wikis like confluence or on their websites. This means you can reach their audience wherever they are. 📈 What’s next?Future improvements include extending this functionality to timelines roadmaps and implementing real time updates for the shared link. We will be adding some smaller improvements in the coming weeks including adding a password option for the shared links and showing visualisation of feature card attributes. 📚L
Hello, I am trying to assess the size of an opportunity with MRR. So I have to add companies in the insight section, but I am not allowed to add Companies only? I have all the time to enter a comment… which end up by me typing “+” or “+1”… at the end of the day it s very time consuming and also less readable in terme of UI. Anybody find a way to link companies to a feature without the need of entering a comment? Thanks
I was wondering if there is a best practice around creating initiatives within Productboard. Here is an example:One of our product currently contains only a Hotel product within it, and we want to offer other travel services other than Hotel. The initiative itself is to become a multi-services product (not just hotel), for example flights, car rentals, …Each new service would be an epic with stories within it (in JIRA), which means that each would be a feature in PB, i.e. Add flights would be a PB feature (but an epic in JIRA)So my question is: How would I display the initiatives? or should initiatives be part of PB at all?
I had a couple folks reach out over private message after reading @Amir_Rozenberg’s Medium article that we posted yesterday (read the post here), asking how I’ve approached continuous discovery using Productboard. In the interest of transparency, here’s an approach that I’ve followed in my past product work:Use Objectives to capture the Desired Outcome (in OST). Alternatively you could also use a Component as you organize your thoughts then move these over to Objectives once you’ve settled on the priorities. You can’t track different levels of Objectives easily in Productboard -- most teams focus here on the product’s objectives Use Components to capture the Opportunities (in OST). These can be nested if needed Use Features to capture Solutions (in OST) Create insights from notes and add to Components so you can track and identify the Opportunities most important to your customers. The User Impact Score can identify those for you. Use Segmentation to narrow in on those Components most

I’m on a Enterprise plan. - Can’t seem to locate, where I’m adding custom fields to Products, Features, Subfeatures. - I see a default ‘Member’-field called Designer on a Feature - How do I create additional fields of this type, and are there other field-types available? (URL, text, numbers, dropdown, etc)
Regarding the Salesforce integration and importing closed Salesforce opportunities. When you set the filter you only seem to be able to use the AND command to link criteria together?I have the need to import two different types of opportunity (Opp Type is Maintenance OR Opp Type is Managed Service) but because its an AND I cannot do it as the Opp Type is never a Maintenance and Managed Service opportunity it is one or the other. Is there a way to do this or do I need to try and find a common field in the opportunity that is always present in both?RegardsDarren
HiWe are really loving the Insights feature :-) We are currently getting about 250 Insights created a month, mostly from our portals, and we are looking to grow this. There are lots of cases where we want to chat to the user who left the insight more to better understand their context, and we can contact them through email, however this isn’t a particularly scalable experience as we have to extract the email address, contact them privately and then update the insight. We also see an opportunity to use these contacts for other discovery topics but again we need to contact the user by email to ask if they would be interested in helping us. I’d also like their explicit permission to do this to be in line with GDPR. At the moment I’m thinking of manually gathering the emails from insights each week and sending them a Google Form to ask if they would be willing to collaborate on discovery in the future but this is not at all scalable. Do you have any suggestions that could help with this cha
Hi We have released the Timeframe column for the features board that will allow you to plan features against time more effectively. 💫 What’s new?New column available in Misc section on Features board: Timeframe Assign high-level or specific time directly from the column Filter features by Timeframe start-end dates Sort feature by Timeframe start-end dates 📅 Why is this important? The timeframe column will allow you to plan features much faster and enable new use cases like:Show me what have we released in the last Quarter or Month? Show me what's already been planned for the next Quarter or Month? Show me which features haven't been planned yet? ➡️ What's next? We're working on a follow-up capability: Assign time to multiple features at once. 📚DocumentationHow to: Use the Timeframe column to plan your features against time
Hey Product Makers,We are happy to announce that we released Aggregated Company field. The feature is available on Scale and Enterprise plans. You can prioritize your features based on ARR or other attributes that are tied to the companies that provide feedback on a specific feature. Available in GA for Scale and Enterprise. Aggregated Company field is based on a numeric custom field of your imported companies. It aggregates that numeric value per feature for those companies that are submitted a note to request that feature and that note was linked to it.The aggregated company field values can be used to understand for example the revenue impact of your ideas (aggregated ARR, ACV, etc.) and help you with the prioritization. Since you can use it with any numeric custom fields of the companies you can customize this value to your use case as well. 🆕 What is new?On the Features Board Misc sidebar, you can toggle on the aggregated company fields and see them as columns on the Features bo
Hello, I created a Roadmap view with the Now Next Later view (based on released dimension) but I would like to change it to a Kanban view based on status dimension. Is it possible to update the current roadmap or is it mandatory to create a new one each time I want to have a different view? Thanks
Hello, I was wondering if it’s possible through the ProductBoard API to update feature progress and the effort attribute. We use Shortcut for engineering ticket tracking and want to pull epic point estimates into ProductBoard so that we can track release progress in a roadmap.I started to play around with a custom formula to track release progress but it doesn’t look like I can visualize custom formulas or fields on the roadmap.
Hi! I am just starting out using Productboard for an App I am building and I am struggling for where to assign Tags on the Hierarchy. I am trying JTBD Framework, so I might have something like this…Customize Interface (Component) Choose Preference From Limited Options (SubComponent) Font Choice (Feature) Font Size (SubFeature) Font Family (SubFeature) Let’s say I want to put a “ ui ” tag on these, I find myself putting it on each level, but that seems excessive. Just starting out, I am not sure all the ways the tag filter is utilized throughout ProductBoard so I am uncertain of the best approach. Any recommendations, how do you assign tags in your hierarchy?
