Is there a way to mass update custom fields across features. It doesnt seem to be supported.

We create a custom field called squad to assign features to specific teams. But it seems i can’t do that. Is there a workaround?

@Samkay you’re correct that custom fields cannot be modified in bulk. Can you share a bit more about why you need to capture which squad is working on a particular feature? Would love to better understand your expected use here.

Two approaches that could work here as alternatives:

  • Tags - these can be assigned in bulk and are also can be filtered and displayed on roadmaps
  • Teams - of specific squads own individual objectives then this may be an option as each objective can have a team. These can be filtered and can also be displayed on a roadmap grouped by objective.

@scott.baldwin sometimes we might have a feature or solution being worked on by different eng squads. we like to tag which squad is working on what for planning purposes that the eng leads can take a look at.

The tags solution seems like the best workaround for us, since i dont want to create goals just to assign for the teams. We already use goals and they are owned by the product team now.

Thanks @Samkay I’ve shared the feedback with our team.

I vote for this one too. Tags are scattered and unorganized. Tags also are not grouped under a category.

Fields (especially drop downs) are great for feature classification, investment buckets etc.

Thus, the ability to set custom field value in bulk is very necessary IMO.

@Samkay @Amir_Rozenberg did you see today’s update that allows for bulk custom field changes?
