I am very excited to announce that we’ve released Productboard <> Azure DevOps Two Way sync for Title and Description to GA! (Available to all the plans) 🎉

👉 What’s new?

For the Productboard <> Azure DevOps integration, our customers can now enable two-way sync for the:

  • Productboard Feature Name <> Azure DevOps Work Item Title
  • Productboard Feature Description <> Azure DevOps Work Item Description

🤔 Why should you care?

  • Feature name and description are for many of our customers essential Azure DevOps fields to keep in sync for seamless product delivery.
  • Therefore, this will be a huge time saver for many of our customers and ensure a better alignment between the product and the delivery teams working from Azure DevOps.

I am having a really hard time creating a sustainable process with Productboard, if the only two pieces of data that is linked bidirectionally are:

  • Productboard Feature Name <> Azure DevOps Work Item Title
  • Productboard Feature Description <> Azure DevOps Work Item Description

That is the absolute minimum, but it is certainly not enough.  What happens when I move something from one sprint to another, or pull something out of backlog into a sprint planned a couple out?  Am I really going to have to make the change in BOTH Productboard and in DevOps?  I must be missing something here. I would think this would end up being a requirement for anyone’s process when trying to use these tools together.

Thoroughly confused...

Hello @shawnmcady ,

Unfortunately, you are not missing anything. We recognize that the current Azure DevOps integration capabilities are limited. I have good news for you and other customers interested in the new Pb <> ADO Integration capabilities.

We are now investing in Productboard <> Azure DevOps (ADO) integration. Expect to see some significant improvements in the upcoming weeks and months. One that should come very soon is Automating Status Updates from Azure DevOps, so the linked Pb Features reflect the development status in ADO.

All the best.

Hello @Jaroslav_Tran ,

I am looking forward to this improvement. Is there somewhere that I can track the progress of this in your Productboard?

Best,

Pouya

Hello again.  Can you provide any updates on progress being made here or plans to release these improvements?  It has been 2 months since the comment above.  I am afraid if there is not some improvement soon, we will have to switch from using Pb. Specifically, with the ability to map ADO’s Iteration value to an equivalent field in Pb, so that moving items from sprint to sprint or to and from backlog can be done in Pb and then sync to ADO.

Thank you.

Hello @shawnmcady

Regarding Automating Feature Status Updates from Azure DevOps to Productboard, it should be released by the end of this month.

Unfortunately, apart from that, there are no planned ADO improvements in Q3. Syncing iterations or sprints is not something that would be high on the priority list atm. When we start working on the ADO improvements, we are more looking into supporting sync of attributes such as Date/Timeframe, Member Fields, Numerical Fields, Dropdown Fields, etc.
