This week we’re featuring
Starting in Product Management
How'd you get started making products that matter?
My start as a product maker was more of a sideways hop. I transitioned to product management after years of being part of the customer-facing consulting team. I wanted to be able to make products that matter, and what better way than to join the product makers!
What's one piece of advice you wish you'd had when you started working in product?
It's complex, but the results are extremely rewarding.
Product management today
What do you like the most about your work?
I love writing release notes once a feature is ready to be released as this is the culmination of great teamwork, ideation, and collaboration which I get to announce with our customers.
What are you excited about in the year ahead and your product?
Our company is currently growing at an amazing pace, which places our product teams in an exciting position to learn and meet the challenge of the year ahead!
Tell us about something you shipped/launched recently…
Sometimes the smaller releases are the ones that make more impact for a customer. Releasing extra protection measures for their assets in our SaaS solution may not seem exciting, but when done in a user-friendly manner it can greatly ease someone else's daily work.
Who do you most often collaborate with when planning, executing, and bringing new things to market?
The question should not be who do I collaborate with most often... but instead, who do I not collaborate with? Good collaboration involves many stakeholders both internally and externally to ensure the right things are being built.
How does Productboard help you in your role?
ProductBoard helps me have a better overview of our backlog.
Some miscellaneous thoughts
Outside of work you'll find me…
When not at work I spend time with my young family in the mountains of Switzerland.
Is there anything you would like to see happen next in the Product Maker community?
I would love to see product training or keynotes in the Product Maker community.
