Welcome to the August edition of Maker Matters, a monthly digest about our Product Makers community.

Summer is here 😎🌴

Welcome to all of you that have joined over the past month. With the summer we tend to see things slow down in our community (who wouldn’t rather be outside and in the sun, travelling somewhere, or exploring a new hobby?). Personally I’m looking forward to some time off soon, and we hope you’re getting a chance to enjoy some time outside this summer and stay safe throughout this continued pandemic. We’re excited to have you all back this September!

What’s new 👨‍💻

  • Have a peer working in Product Marketing? Invite them to our community and have them join our new Product Marketing group. We’re interested in learning how your product marketing team works with you, how you collaborate with one-another, and Productboard day-to-day.

  • We’ve made some small changes to the community settings so posts now automatically close for comments after 30 days of inactivity rather than 14 days. If you need a topic re-opened, just reach out to our community team and let us know.

  • If you want to know how to use the community, our new Get Started page has quick links to popular articles, frequently asked questions, and easy access to our community guide and articles on using the community

  • Open to meeting others? We’re exploring a new mentorship program for our community to help connect folks with one another. If you’re interested, take a moment to add your mentorship preference on your profile, and if we have enough interest we’ll look to get something going.

We’d like your input 👇

  • We’re partnering again with our friends at Product Collective, and you can win a free pass to INDUSTRY conference by taking Productboard’s 2021 Product Excellence survey.

  • Mental health and your product role: We’re interested in hearing how you have been affected, how you deal with and take care of your own mental health, and how you help others take care of theirs. Chime in on our poll and this thread.

  • Interested in increasing your profile and sharing a bit about your product role and experiences with our community? We’re interested in featuring some of our Product Makers, to get started, fill out our question form, and you could be selected as one of our monthly featured makers.

Community content highlights 💬

Three of our most popular topics this past month:

  1. Introducing product management to an established organization

  2. Measuring success of a product operations team

  3. What are your favorite product management resources (blogs, research, influencers, communities)?

Hey, Product Markers community!

Congrats on the amazing start. I must say that I’m a huge fan of this kind of digest. As someone extremely focused on the communication part of things, I love how this simple but very informative piece of information can get us in the loop of the most important things happening.

Keep up with the excellent work (kudos for @scott.baldwin, that is without a doubt the face of it), and thank you for the recognition, by the way. Count on me to keep promoting this community.

Stay safe everyone!
